The Kenyan rugby fraternity has been left in shock after yet another death on the pitch.
Victor Wayodi, a Mwamba RFC player passed on after collapsing on the pitch, Saturday December 10.
Mwamba was playing Top Fry Nakuru at Impala club when the scrum-half collapsed on the pitch.
Reports indicate that Wayodi was rushed to Nairobi Women’s Hospital and the cause of death was determined as cardiac arrest.
Wayodi is the second Kenya Cup player to pass away in a span of seven days after Nondies’ Sylvester Ogeto Gecheo died while undergoing treatment at Aga Kgan Hospital, Nairobi.
According to Nondies, Gecheo sustained injuries after a disc slipped in his neck when he went for a tackle leading to spainal damage. They were playing against Strathmore Leos at the university’s Makadara grounds.
Our heartfelt condolences.
