Proud of what @bonifacemwangi and @LarryMadowo did here. We need to #TakeBackKenya from these selfish leaders! pic.twitter.com/HyQDroSKq0

We pay your salaries then you disobey traffic rules!

This was the dress down given to Mwingi West MP Bernard Kitungi by Boniface Mwangi for driving on the wrong side.

It is not uncommon in Kenyan roads to see politician’s motorcades overlapping or using the wrong side to avoid traffic jams. This they do with total disregard to the traffic rules or welfare of anyone caught in their arrogant stunts.

Boniface Mwangi however was not having any more of it. The activist managed to not only stop Kitungi’s guzzler as it was using the wrong side of the road but also ensured that the driver backed all the way up to its lane. All with a good dose of a lecture on good citizenship and leadership.

In the viral video, Mwangi is seen blocking the car which ironically was flouting the rules right outside the parliament buildings.

“Laws apply to everyone, wewe ni nani?” he continued to ask even as a traffic police officer approached the scene.

Eventually after continued pressure and undoubtedly the many phone cameras trained their way, the politician’s guzzler had to back all the way up to its lane.

News anchor and host Larry Madowo who was also at the scene said, “I blocked Mwingi West MP Bernard Kitungi from using the wrong side of the road yesterday, I didn't think it was anything other than a citizen saying no to bad behaviour. Ironically, he and his driver were breaking the law right outside where laws are made. If we can all do our little thing, maybe we wouldn't complain so much about what's going wrong. Think about that.”

This move by Boniface Mwangi and team courage has been applauded by Kenyans who have clearly had enough.
