Broke but not down: Why Kenyan rapper Xtatic was auctioned

County_Western

Earlier this week, local top rapper Xtatic revealed what most musicians would never admit. She is broke!

In a long post on her Facebook page, the rapper revealed that she would lose her entire household items and housekeeper to auctioneers.

“....I put in perspective that I have or will be losing my entire house to an auction and having let off my housekeeper, who has been heaven-sent and a second mother to my child, puts me off course, at a place of more work,” read part of her post.

When Heads Up reached out to the singer, she revealed that although she was down, she was not out.

“It’s not a cry of pity. I just wanted to use my situation to inspire people,” she said, blaming her woes on her decision to sign with Sony Music Label who she accuses of not prioritising her career. She also says her mother’s death took a toll on her.

“Taking care of my two siblings and my daughter at the same time also contributed a bit to my woes, but I will be fine. You know after my mother’s death, I had more responsibilities and even though people are asking where my boyfriend is, they should know that a man can only do so much. He also has his own responsibilities,” Xtatic told Heads Up.
