Gatanga MP Humphrey Kimani's son wanted for girl's murder

Henry Njuguna, the son of Gatanga MP Humphrey Kimani, is said to have caused a fatal road accident which killed a Kenya Airways employee identified as Viviane during this year’s Easter holidays.

An MP’s son is wanted for allegedly causing the death of a woman in Arusha, Tanzania through what has been termed as ‘careless driving.’

Henry Njuguna, the son of Gatanga MP Humphrey Kimani, is said to have caused a fatal road accident which killed a Kenya Airways employee identified as Viviane during this year’s Easter holidays.

Njuguna was apprehended by Tanzanian police and released on a bail. His bail was paid by another Kenyan in Tanzania, Charity Githinji. But as soon as he was released, Njuguna allegedly fled to Kenya, prompting Tanzanian security officers to issue a warrant for his arrest.

Charity took to social media to plead with Njuguna to return as she could be arrested after him out.

“Our brothers from Tanzania were ready to sort out the issue amicably, but he has decided they are not worth his time. I stood bail upon being asked by his father and the Kenyan Embassy in Dar to help,” Githinji posted on Facebook.

“Henry Njuguna, now known as Wa Kimani on Facebook, caused an accident in Arusha over Easter and he has now jumped bail. He is a wanted criminal. There was loss of life, broken limbs and the other car is a write-off. All these caused by careless and dangerous driving. His father is the Gatanga Member of Parliament who is popularly known as Roho Safi. Circulate this widely so that we get him to come over,” posted the woman on Twitter. She says she’s a mother of two and a marketer.

Charity who is also a motivational speaker and a Rotarian, claims that she made the incident public in a bid to have the legislator’s son returned to Tanzania as she now face jail time in Tanzania. When we finally reached Charity, she texted to say that, “Henry is a criminal who has no regard for law. He lacks integrity and respect for life. He should show up and clean his mess.”

Our efforts to contact the Tanzania High Commission in Nairobi over the matter were unsuccessful after calls to the numbers provided on their website were unanswered by the time of going to press.

Henry Njuguna, an alumnus of Moi University from where he graduated in 2009, is a commercial lawyer in his father’s firm, Njuguna Kimani Nduhiu and Company Advocates and the Law Society of Kenya cites his practicing status as ‘Active.’

When contacted, his father, the MP nicknamed Kimani Roho Safi said, “I can’t speak to people I don’t know on the phone. Come to my office so that we can speak” and refused to respond to further text messages.

When we called his law firm, the receptionist - who declined to give out her name - let us know that Njuguna was not in the office. She asked for our phone contacts for Njuguna to call us later when he is “available.”

“I don’t know what time he will come in, but if he does, I will give him your number so that he can call you,” she said.

Kimani Roho Safi was recently in the news when he asked members of his constituency to urinate in the waters of Ndakaini Dam.

The lawmaker had threatened to lead thousands of his constituents to pollute the water in the dam in protest to the acute water shortage in Murang’a arguing that, “I will mobilise my constituents to urinate in the dam as it does not benefit us at all.”
