‘I was ill. It’s so bad hearing people say it was my fault we didn’t go through because I did not travel. That’s not true…I don’t need to prove I was ill, but it hurt me even more because I couldn’t help the team.’ Kenyan born Southampton Mid-fielder unveiled at a press conference.

He revealed that despite being at the epitome of his football career, there are challenges that come with the game.

Born and raised in Kenya, Victor Mugubi Wanyama attended Kamukunji High School in Nairobi. Here, he discovered his love for football.

Wanyama’s first stint in professional football came when he joined JMJ Academy and played for Nairobi City Stars and AFC Leopards teams.

His prowess in football has seen Wanyama rise to become captain of the Kenya National team and Southampton Mid fielder, a fete he has conquered over the years making him a source of pride for Kenyan football lovers.

He, however, was once was once rumored to be dating Chocolate City singer Victoria Kimani but it fizzled out quickly after he downplayed the allegations.

With a blossoming football career, Wanyama comes from a family of footballers with his eldest brother Mariga having set the pace as an amicable footballer on the international platforms.

Owing to his dedication, the Southampton midfielder has bagged major awards including the President’s Favorite player award as South Coast club rewarded its 2014-1015 best players.

His love for Kenya is clear as he often flies home to play for Harambee Stars while taking time out to mingle with fans at events. He recently gifted bongo hit maker Ali Kiba with a pair of sneakers at the Koroga festival.
