Taylor Swift stopped dating to prove she does not need inspiration from a guy

Taylor Swift has admitted that she’s enjoying single life and time on her own because she is proving that she can make good music without it being about a boyfriend.

The blonde starlet, who has had a string of famous ex-boyfriends including Harry Styles, Jake Gyllenhaal, John Mayer and Taylor Lautner, has now been single since splitting with the One Direction star last year.

Talking to Esquire magazine, she said: "I just stopped dating people, because it meant a lot to me to set the record straight -- that I do not need some guy around in order to get inspiration, in order to make a great record, in order to live my life, in order to feel okay about myself. I wanted to show my fans the same thing.”

Taylor was speaking about her upcoming album 1989 and admitted that she felt like she had learned a lot in the past year.

"I've done more thinking and examining and figuring out how to cope with things on my own than I would have if I had been focusing on someone else's emotions and someone else's schedule,” she explained. “It's been really good."

The formal serial dater, who found herself the butt of several celebs’ jokes with her hectic love life including Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, still doesn’t understand why her dating got so much interest.

"I would date someone, figure out we weren't compatible or figure out we didn't work out, and then we'd break up,” she explained.

“That seems like a very normal thing for a young 20-something to do. I think it's healthy for everyone to go a few years without dating, just because you need to get to know who you are."

That’s Taylor for you.
