Machawood's first movie, that could be better than Nollywood movies, to be released

Last year, the Kenyan version of Hollywood, Machawood, was launched by the Governor of Mackakos County, Dr Alfred Mutua.

Pioneered by the governor with a pool influential media personalities behind the project, Machawood- Machakos Entertainment Centre for Film, Media, Music and the Arts- was expected to make Machakos County the premier location for African entertainment

A year later, they have started rolling out movies. On Saturday the 24^th of May 2014, the movie Love and Deceit will be debuted at the Machakos People’s Park in Machakos City.

The movie is about 2 friends who find themselves in the USA. After a longtime being apart, they decide to come together. One has to relocate from Kenya, while the other is based in the USA. What follows is a tale of heartbreak, love, despair, passion and regret.

The movie has been shot partially in Kenya & in the USA. The cast members are from Kenya, Nigeria, Liberia & Tanzania. It is a production of DanDan Entertainment.

Nollywood is clearly getting a run for its money from this movie. It is bound to be a staple in the Afrocinema hour.

At the opening, Pulse editor, Stevens Muendo sensationally declared Machakos as, “the next big entertainment hub and the Kenyan showbiz scene can await a huge shake up!”

At this rate, we can only expect more and more from Machawood!
