Former Kerio Valley Development Authority (KVDA) managing director David Kimosop has been released on police bail.

Lawyer Katwa Gigen said Kimosop will be arraigned on Monday over the Sh63 billion Arror and Kimwarer dams’ scandal.

"Kimosop was released on police bail and will appear in court on Monday,” said the lawyer.

Kimosop was arrested at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) at around 7.30am soon after disembarking from the aircraft from Tanzania.

Kimosop was whisked to the DCI headquarters where he spent much of the day at the Serious Crime Unit offices.

Kimosop, who is among the high-profile individuals implicated was yet to appear in court, spent Friday night before being released on Saturday morning.

Other suspects in the case and who have since been charged include Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich, Principal Secretary Kamau Thugge, and Susan Koech.

Geoffrey Wahungu, who until Monday was the National Environment Management Authority (Nema) director, has also been charged and released on bond.

The arrest comes amid reports that the focus had now shifted to tracing and recovery of assets belonging to the 22 individuals and companies linked to the Arror and Kimwarer dams scandal.

The Asset Recovery Agency (ARA) has held two meetings with top officials at the Attorney General's office to discuss the way forward after the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) pressed charges on the individuals and companies.
