An Orange Democratic Movement MP has warned that Raila Odinga's allies could disintegrate the Orange party ahead of 2017 elections.

Karachuonyo MP James Rege said Raila's allies were abusing their close relationship with party leader to humiliate other officials during in public gatherings.

He also supported Western leaders, led by Budalang'i MP Ababu Namwaba, for relinquishing their positions in ODM saying it was their democratic right to do so.

"There is nothing wrong Ababu and his colleagues did by resigning from ODM leadership posts. Everybody should enjoy democracy to take any action they wish in the party," Rege said.

In a telephone interview with The Standard from Chile where he is attending World e-Parliament Conference, Rege said the Orange party should hold dialogue with those who are disgruntled to solve the ongoing crisis.

"I have no problem with Raila, but there are people who must stop their habit of insulting others because they think they are close to him," said Rege.

The MP said the group, led by party chairman John Mbadi, was busy causing division in the party.
