Nairobi: The probe against retired Supreme Court Judge Philip Tunoi was Monday terminated with the tribunal arguing that he is no longer a judicial officer.

“The probe is now not necessary as the judge is now retired. The tribunal will not enquire into the allegations any further,” said Chairman Sharad Rao while announcing the tribunal’s decision.

The team will however report to the president on the findings that it has so far gathered.

Tunoi was retired on June 15 after the Supreme Court upheld an earlier ruling that required judges to quit at the age of 70.
