Nathan Redmond to replace Sadio Mane at The Saints

Norwich winger Nathan Redmond

Southampton are set to seal the £11million signing of Norwich winger Nathan Redmond, who is set to have a medical on the South Coast on Saturday.

As Mirror Sport revealed two weeks ago, Southampton have made Redmond a key target this summer, and have been waiting patiently for the 22-year-old to return from holiday.

Redmond scored six times in the Premier League last term, but couldn't keep Alex Neil's side in the top flight.

The Canaries had been keen to keep hold of the winger, but Redmond is desperate to stay in the Premier League.

Stoke boss Mark Hughes had also been keen on taking him to the Bet 365 this summer, while Potters No.1 Jack Butland, Redmond's long-time friend, had been trying to persuade him to return to the Midlands.

However, it is manager-less Southampton who have won the race and Redmond will arrive at St Mary's in part as a replacement for Senegalese forward Sadio Mane.

Liverpool have been trying to negotiate a fee for Mane with Southampton for weeks and believe they are finally making progress.

Saints want £40million for the Senegalese forward, just two years after buying him from Red Bull Salzburg for £11.8million. The Reds are increasingly confident they can agree a fee closer to £30million.

Mane, 24, bagged 15 in total for Saints and boss Jurgen Klopp has admired the African since he netted 31 times in 63 league games for Red Bull between 2012 and 2014.

He has made Mane his top summer target after Mario Gotze distanced himself from a move from Bayern Munich to Anfield.
