Striking varsity workers ordered to resume duty

Non-teaching staff of Dedan Kimathi University of Technology have been barred from going on strike. The court also stopped the over 330 employees from holding demonstrations.

Employment and Labour Relations Court further directed the employees to resume duty by June 22, without any victimisation and harassment pending further orders.

Judge Byram Ongaya ordered the university management and the staff to go on with negotiations in good faith with a view to resolving the issue of new house allowances.

This, Justice Ongaya observed, was in compliance with the parties recognition and collective agreement provisions on grievances management.
