Mercy Chemosop said she defied her father's directive to get married and fled to Eldama Ravine town. The former Kipsogon Primary School pupil in Mogotio said her parents separated while she was in lower primary.

She went to live with her grandmother in Koibatek, but the father followed her there and tried to marry her off. She was this year admitted to Kipngorom Girls High School in Baringo, but is unable to raise the Sh43,029 required.

Her efforts to get bursary from the Nakuru West CDF in Nakuru where her mother resides have been fruitless.
