Former MP Jane Kihara: I rejected ICC's good offer

Former Naivasha MP Jane Kihara says that she rejected International Criminal Court's (ICC) entreaties to testify against President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Ms Kihara alleged at the weekend that she turned down lucrative offers from the ICC to be a prosecution witness and instead became a defence witness .

"I refused to be lured by those lucrative deals they were giving me and I ended up becoming a key defence witness and that is how the case against the President collapsed," she claimed.

Naivasha was one of the areas hardest hit by the 2008 post-election violence which left close to 60 people dead.

Kihara made the allegations at the weekend when she hosted over 500 visitors in her home in Maraigushu where she declared her intention to vie for the Naivasha parliamentary seat.

Kihara also announced that she had resigned from the Narc-Kenya and joined Jubilee Party.

During the last General Election Kihara vied for the post of Nakuru senator on a Narc-Kenya ticket and lost James Mungai.

Kihara said she has been requested by local residents to go back to politics.

"This is a decision that was painful to make and I had to convince my family that residents want me to go back and serve them," she said.
