CORD MPs say Raila Odinga will not record statement over ICC fixing claims

Opposition MPs have vowed that CORD co-principal Raila Odinga will not record any statement regarding alleged procurement of witnesses against Deputy President William Ruto at the International Criminal Court (ICC).

The MPs came to Raila's defence, accusing some Jubilee leaders of diverting the attention of the public from the ills currently facing the country.

MPs Johnstone Muthama (Machakos), Hassan Omar (Mombasa), Omondi Anyanya (Nyatike), Nicholas Gumbo (Rarieda) and Opiyo Wandayi (Ugunja) said Raila had no role in the Kenyan ICC cases and they would not allow his name to be tarnished.

The Opposition said the confession of Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria that he together with others helped in fixing the DP at the ICC should not be taken lightly.

Senator Muthama claimed that there is a grand scheme by the Jubilee administration to use the ICC cases facing the DP and radio journalist Joshua Sang to discredit the Opposition leaders.

He claimed that they have resorted to scavenging and digging out issues in order to silence their critics.

"Raila will not write or record any statement on the basis of Kuria's allegations to divert the attention of Kenyans from key issues facing them. Jubilee has lost its moral authority of leadership and they know it," said Muthama.

Muthama said that Jubilee tried linking Raila with the collapse of Mumias, Kalonzo with Yatta Farm, Siaya Senator James Orengo with a land scam, himself with alleged hate speech and they failed. Now, he said, they were targeting Raila and Kisumu Senator Anyang Nyong'o.
