Senator Wamatangi's brother impregnated me in Form Two

 Miriam Mapapa

Miriam Mapapa met the man of her dreams and cut short her secondary school education to settle with him in a ‘come we stay’ union.

That was more than ten years ago when Charles Kimani stole her heart when she was barely 18 years old. They were both in the same high school. Miriam told The Nairobian: “It was just genuine love having met and studied together in Makueni’s Mulala High that was in 1998, he was in form four and I was in form two.”

Miriam said their relationship grew from friendship to intimacy and before she knew it, she was expectant. Surprisingly Kimani did not run away.

“His class was the last before it became girls’ school the following year, that’s why we had a lot of time to mingle. Due to my situation then, I dropped out of school to be with him having finishedschool and began hustling,” she claims.

According to Miriam, Kimani was a sharp man business wise and allowed her to live in his house in Madaraka estate where their first born son was born in early 1999.

Kimani became a car dealer operating along Ngong Road but less than five years into their relationship things went south. Come the year 2000, Miriam busted Kimani in their bed with another woman.

“I was shocked and lost strength, I had to spend the night with him and the woman in one bed, that was not the first time though, he promised to change but as time went by he became worse, chasing every skirt”, she claims.

In 2003 she became pregnant again and gave birth to baby girl, this she claims widened the rift as he became arrogant and neglected her totally. “We tried to resolve our problem involving his parents and brothers including Paul (now Kiambu Senator Kimani Wa Matangi), he promised to change but nothing was forthcoming” claims Miriam, adding: “At some point his mum took me to FIDA offices but I gave up on the way and decided to go back and start life in Mombasa alone and bring up kids my own way.”

She said: “I thought we had parted ways for good but I remember one time when he to clear some vehicles in Mombasa, he called me promising to meet him at restaurant to solve our issues, when I arrived he said we can solve the matter overnight, I knew he wanted to sleep with me”.

“But I stood my ground and told him we can meet the following day, he gave me Sh200 for fare and left the following day without any communication having failed to achieve what he wanted.”

According to Miriam, who survives on small business that gives her less than Sh10,000 a month, Kimani has on a few occasions assisted her financially but this is a drop in the ocean considering her needs.

“I am not after his money or other family, if he has one, but the support of our children and their education ought to be his first priority,” she said.

My father has denied me three times - son

The sixteen-year-old boy, the couple’s first born son claims Kimani has denied him three times since he was born.

The form two boy whose name is linked to Kimani’s family said during their last meeting last year he promised to pay their upkeep and school fees but he has never kept his word.

“He agreed to support us and even gave me his contacts but when I called him days later, the number 0729***827 was off line, it still is to date, some my uncles and other relatives are supportive though,” said the boy.

The minor who studies at a public secondary school in Mombasa said his studies now hang by the thread and his performance is dwindling since he is regularly sent away for lack of school fees.

His 12-year-old sister also in class six has been missing classes due to lack of school fess as her mum is unable to support both of them. One of their uncle’s (name withheld), currently sponsoring the kids told The Nairobian “it is tough but at some point I cannot run away like their father what we need is him to be man and take his responsibilities.”

The Nairobian traced the elusive Kimani through his contacts which he keeps changing only to find him via email on August 26, he responded to our greetings but ignored our inquiry about Miriam’s allegations.

Nick one of his brothers told The Nairobian “he is my brother but we have not met for long time, even finding him on phone is not easy task”. Pkemoi Ng’enoh
