South Africa lawmakers reject bid to impeach Zuma over Bashir saga

Cape Town: South Africa's parliament on Tuesday rejected investigating President Jacob Zuma for possible impeachment for allowing Sudanese President Omar Hassan al-Bashir to evade an arrest warrant and leave the country in June.

Bashir, accused of masterminding genocide in Darfur, was allowed to leave an African Union summit in South Africa and fly home, in defiance of a local court ruling ordering his detention under a warrant from the International Criminal Court.
