David De Gea's girlfriend "very disappointed" after deal collapses

David De Gea's girlfriend is apparently "very disappointed" after seeing the Manchester United goalkeeper's protracted move to Real Madrid collapsed.

The Spanish stopper will remain at Old Trafford after both they and Real couldn't come to an agreement in time before the Spanish deadline.

Edurne Garcia, who lives and works in Madrid, was believed to be the driving force behind De Gea's desire to return home.

Spanish media are reporting that pop star Garcia has told friends: "I'm very disappointed with what has happened."

De Gea still looks all set for a return to the Spanish capital but any move will now have to wait six months at least.

In the aftermath Garcia, who famously once described Manchester as being "uglier than the back of a fridge", has seen her social media account trolled mercilessly by United fans.

De Gea looked destined for a move to Madrid on Sunday before the late paperwork debacle.

However, the Spanish giants were made aware that, having missed the registration deadline with the LFP, even had De Gea been allowed to complete his switch that he could not have played in La Liga until January.

Madrid this lunchtime released a numbered statement on the controversially scrapped deal which claims that United are to blame.

It claims that the Old Trafford club spent eight hours dawdling over contract details, before sending incomplete data to FIFA's TMS far too late for Madrid to ensure the transfer was completed.
