Chief Justice Willy Mutunga has done a lot in trying to reform the Judiciary. But he is due for retirement just when the next General Election will be around the corner.
This means the Supreme Court must be properly constituted before the election. If Mutunga stays to the last day of his tenure, this will create a problem.
As the late Prof George Saitoti rightfully put it, the nation is more important than an individual. Therefore, the sacrifice the CJ should make is to go for early retirement. This will clear the uncertainty.
