Woman shot in supermarket robbery

A woman was Sunday night shot and wounded in a robbery at a supermarket in Kayole, Nairobi.

Police said a gang of three raided Fortune Supermarket at about 8pm and ordered all customers to lie down and surrender their valuables and cash.

Kayole OCPD Ali Nuno said it was in the process of the attack that the woman who is the proprietor of the supermarket tried to resist.

“The gang shot her in the hip before escaping with the day’s collection and other valuables of unknown value,” said Mr Nuno.

The woman was rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital where doctors said she responding well to medication. Nuno said one of the attackers was armed with an AK47 rifle.

And in Dandora, police shot dead two suspects at the weekend in a botched robbery.

Elsewhere, police are investigating an incident in which the body of a middle-aged woman was found on a railway line in Kasarani.
