With all their endless muchene, kujivuruta and endless ‘issues’ from in-laws, a cheating hubby, brats at home, coniving house helps who are ‘ruining my marriage’...just why would a man join a women’s chama?

To get some...

Some men with perverted intentions will do anything to get laid. Louis Amuhinda, a media man was kicked out of a chama recently after members found out that he had slept with most of them.

He has no apologies and says that he had fun while it lasted because

“What do you want me to do?” he posed, “Go to church just to get laid? Those are holy grounds.”

Women are more focused...

Jeremy Mwasia, a fruit vendor, is in a chama with colleagues who are all women. They contribute Sh100 every day. “We have been doing this for the last five years and we recently bought a piece of land in Ruiru. The discipline within the women’s chama is what got us here,” he said.

To get a wife...

While others just want to screw around, some men actually join these chamas in search of wives.

Kris Mukisa joined a chama and within five months, he was already in a serious relationship.

“My wife and I met and dated for two years in that chama. I had to leave once we got married to give her space,” Kris said.

To chunguza a love interest...

While Kris was in it to get a wife, Cosmas Onyango joined a women’s investment group to investigate how much a girl he wanted to date was worth. “I don’t like needy women. Being in the same chama made me realise she had enough money to take care of herself.”

I am not straight...

It is very normal for gays to love women’s company and it doesn’t come as a shocker if they join their chamas. Danny Wainoga is in a chama where they save part of their money for wardrobe make-overs.

“Every month, we do a wardrobe make over for one of the 20 members. I also enjoy the attention since as the only guy, they find me so much fun.”
