Western Parliamentary Caucus (WPC) has dismissed allegations that it is being sponsored by the Government to agitate for the Jubilee interests and agenda in the region.

Members of the caucus led by Chairman Sakwa Bunyasi (Nambale) and secretary Malulu Injendi (Malava) reiterated that the caucus does not operate at the behest of any single individual, Government or the opposition but for the benefit of people living in the region.

But they said there is nothing wrong for them as elected leaders to sit and discuss development agenda for the region.

"The State has a mandate to initiate development projects and it is therefore our duty as elected leaders to ask the president to do so in our region," said Bunyasi, flanked by MPs from the region.

Speaking at Golf hotel in Kakamega, Mr. Bunyasi maintained WPC have enough resources to cater for the efforts of the group without getting support from the State or any other individual.

He said those who are spreading propaganda that MPs from the region are serving the interest of the Government should stop because they are belittling the MPs.

Mr. Injendi praised the Government for honouring its pledge to revive Mumias Sugar Company by issuing Sh1 billion for its bailout.

Orange Democratic Movement Secretary General Ababu Namwamba said the caucus has the blessings of the residents.

Over 30 MPs from four Western counties attended the meeting.
