Megan Walsh (Hailee Steinfeld) plays an orphan secret spy taken into an academy and later let out as a teenage assassin where she gets to discover the life of the average American teenage which she secretly admires and studies. It is during one of her almost failed missions that she unexpectedly decides to cut cords with her former life and experience a normal one.
The new life of an exchange program student she chooses to lead confuses her almost all the time as she is not sure on what to say, wear or even do. Her knowledge and use of code language doesn't help the situation either which makes the conversations hilarious.
Thumbs Up
Just like a good comedy, the humor comes up unexpectedly and every so often you almost don't want to laugh because you might miss the next joke. The fact that they managed to get the flow of the story and script to match is a two-thumbs up feat.
When you see Jessica Alba and Samuel Jackson in the same cast you expect guns blazing hoping there won't be violence since it is rated 13.
Thumbs down
For a 2015 action-comedy, we expect a little more than the usual. It is an obvious boy meets girl story where one technically knows the flow of the storyline and what to expect in the end. Assumptions made are too many that there is a point you are left trying to figure the transition.
Verdict
The big names casted in it deliver up to the expectation. Watch the movie for the humor if nothing else.
