Lusaka mourns Teremi High School principal

Teremi High School Principal Japhent Mang'eni  is dead.

Mr Mang'eni died on Sunday at Mediheal Hospital after a being taken ill for a few days.

In his condolence message, Governor Ken Lusaka described the former principal of Kolanya Boys High School as a humble and down to earth man. He also served at Friends School Kamusinga, as deputy principal.

"Losing him is indeed a great loss to me and the entire Bungoma County. He was my schoolmate at Kibabii High School in 1977. When he was in Form Three, I was in Form One. He was a good athlete too," said Mr Lusaka.

He further said he had lost a performing principal who posted good results, attaining a mean score of 9.0 last year, making Teremi High one of the top performers in the country.

"He had assured me when I visited the school last year that he would post higher results this year before he retires but death has not allowed him to do so," said Lusaka, who urged other principals to emulate the fallen academician.

County Kenya National Union of Teachers Executive Secretary Kenneth Ng'ang'a also mourned with the family of Mang'eni saying: "Honestly, we are saddened as a union for the death of our member. His contribution to the union was immense."

He added: "He was a humble man who condoned criticism positively. We pray that his soul rest in eternal peace and God comfort the family at this sorrowful time."

Mang'eni is survived by two widows and 18 children.

He hails from Mukhweya village and attended Lumboka Primary School and Kibabii High School before joining Kenyatta University from where he graduated with a Second Upper degree in Education.
