Two Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leaders have asked the Jubilee Government to stop using harambees to hoodwink people in the region.

Governor Cornel Rasanga and nominated MP Oburu Oginga said the Government should instead add more funds to the counties.

Speaking during a meeting in Bondo on Monday, where they met with sub-county ODM delegates and former councillors, Oburu claimed the Jubilee Government is using money to bribe leaders from opposition zones.

He said instead of using a lot of money to conduct harambees and bribe opposition leaders, they should put the money in development projects like building schools and health facilities.

The leaders were speaking in apparent reference to Deputy President William Ruto's visit to the region on Sunday.

The DP attended a fund-raiser for Anglican Church of Kenya, Bondo Diocese where he contributed Sh3 million and gave the President's Sh2 million.

The DP also announced that Sh425 million and Sh380 million has been allocated for renovations and purchase of medical equipment for Siaya County Referral Hospital and Bondo sub-county Hospital respectively.

The governor however said this is a backhanded way of getting into the county affairs without consultation.

"These funds must be budgeted through consultations with the county government," Mr. Rasanga said.
