Kabogo to relocate to Kiambu town in two weeks

Governor William Kabogo will finally relocate to Kiambu town, which is the gazetted county headquarters, in the next two weeks.

Mr Kabogo announced this on Wednesday evening during his state of the county address at a special sitting in the assembly.

“The department of public administration has established a task force to fast-track completion of our county government’s headquarters in Kiambu sub-county with a view to permanently locating the head office to our gazetted headquarters,” Kabogo said.

The governor also noted that completion of the works, which are at an advanced stage, indicates the shift will take place in the early part of the next fiscal year.

“There is no doubt that the county government is on the right track. A lot has been achieved in these last two years and I look forward to the continued collaboration of the two arms of government as we move to meet our development agenda as promised to our people,” he said.

The move should effectively bring an end to the uproar that has been in existence following Kabogo’s move to operate from Thika immediately he was sworn in.

On track

Local leaders have repeatedly called for his relocation to Kiambu town but the governor has been adamant that this will only happen once office renovations are complete.

The governor was addressing the assembly for the second time since he took office in March 2013. He took the chance to assure residents that his government is on the right track unlike what his critics have been saying.

He said his administration aims to reduce over-reliance on the Government when it comes to funding, saying automation of revenue has led to increased revenue collection.
