Don’t be intimidated by my burly figure - Radio Maisha's Tina Koroso

 Tina Koroo

The sudden death of musician Murimi wa Kahalf of, he of the hit song Ino ni momo, was a big shocker. When I learnt of the news via social media, I assumed it was one of those nasty jokes . Gone too soon, I must say.

Our condolences go to his family and fans.

Over the weekend, I linked up with Live Cards CEO Mike Muriuki for nyam chom at the new Maxland Club on Mountain Plaza along Thika Road.

Thika Road is quickly turning to be the best place to hang out especially with the opening of the Garden City Mall (the biggest in East and Central Africa).

On Friday evening, after a quick bite at Dove Cage in the CBD, I linked up with Abraham Maghas and we made our way to Carni for Radio Maisha’s Rhumba Night.

The event, which had an impressive attendance didn’t disappoint.

I caught up with Radio Maisha presenter Tina Koroso, who was in the company of international model- cum-performing artiste Deliah Ipupa.

Deliah has a brand new song, Najidai featuring Landan Balla and Iddi singer.

Signed by an international label, she is currently scouting for talent to nurture.

Back to Tina. For many men who are not gifted vertically, she can be quite intimidating.

She opened up on how her burly figure and no-nonsense appearance makes many run and says she likes it.

“I don’t look down on anyone, but I guess most people are afraid to face me. Not many ladies or sometimes even men can approach me. It gets lonely up here,” she joked.

Later in the evening, we passed by Brew Bistro where flamboyant businessman Chris Obure was celebrating his 40th birthday.

The invite-only bash had all sorts of expensive liquor flowing with attendance by the who is who in the business community including activist Ahmed Papa, Jared of the popular 3 chopper pre-wedding captain Moha among others.

I also made a brief stop at Uptown Lounge where I met two air-hostess and business ladies, Annah and Clara for some cocktails as we jammed to some great music.

On Saturday, I hanged out with Sarafu CEO Irene Gutu and Lulu Kibaara at Valley Arcade as we watched Barcelona crush Juventus.

Later that evening, in the company of Glenbrynth scotch whiskey ambassador Pace Ian, we made our way to Purdy Arm in Karen for the ‘2 hours of sunset event’.

The event is a hang-out where Nairobians mingle, catch a pint and watch a local production. We enjoyed the Veve movie, produced locally, as we sipped some smooth Brynth.

 Let’s connect.
