101-year-old Mzee Mulei Nganda who was Kenya’s first President- Jomo Kenyatta’s family driver has had his wish of meeting President Uhuru Kenyatta granted several years on since retiring from his work.
On Wednesday May 27, Mzee Nganda met the head of state.
Mulei was featured by KTN shortly after Uhuru became president and he told stories of how he served the first family.
In nostalgia, he narrated how President Uhuru was in kindergarten, and how they became best of friends as he would take him to school in the morning and pick him up during the evening.
Mulei’s wish was one: to meet President Uhuru Kenyatta once again. It came true, and even got a chance to share photos with the president.
Photos of Mzee Mulei with Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy, William Ruto alongside other dignitaries were shared on social media where visibly happy Mulei is seen shaking hands with the president and sharing a word or two with him.
Deputy President, William Ruto, is seen holding some black and white photos; probably, the ones that Mulei stored religiously such that if his wish happens to come true, he would use them to remind Uhuru of their childhood friendship.
Mzee Mulei shared with KTN the term he worked for Kenyatta’s family; 5 years, and was added more due to his good service.
