Member of county assembly's office set ablaze

Arsonists on Sunday evening set ablaze the office of Bidii ward county assembly member Mathew Nyarango.

Mr Nyarango, a fierce critic of the Trans Nzoia county government and the governor, was arrested last week following unrest in Kitale town that left a county government vehicle burned by rowdy touts.

According to Nyarango, his office was burned at 9 pm by "hired attackers".

Speaking to The National Alliance party officials, led by nominated Member of Parliament Johnson Sakaja and Joel Gesuka, who visited his destroyed office, the MCA said efforts to put out the fire were futile and nothing was salvaged during the incident.

IN DANGER

"There have been previous attempts to destroy this office and despite reporting the same to police nothing was done," he said.

Nyarango said his life is in danger, claiming some people are out to eliminate him for the stand he has taken on various matters of governance in the county.

The MCA asked the Government to provide him with security, saying he will not relent from his "fight for the rights of residents".

Sakaja and Gesuka condemned the attack and asked police to investigate and bring the culprits to book.
