Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission wants Nairobi Senator Mike Mbuvi alias Sonko grilled by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.

It has also recommended to the Director of Public Prosecutions  Keriako Tobiko that Sonko be disciplined by the Senate over a December 2014 incident at the Mtwapa weighbridge in Kilifi County.

The commission sent one of Sonko's files to the Director of Public Prosecutions with the recommendations yesterday.

Tobiko said his team was studying the evidence and would make his decision shortly. The DPP may accept the recommendations, reject them or order closure of the file.

EACC has been investigating Sonko for allegedly threatening Kenya National Highways Authority officials over the release of a water tanker.

He is alleged to have stormed the weighbridge, accompanied by others, demanding the release of the tanker, said to have been ferrying water to his Vipingo home, which had been impounded for overloading.

Yesterday, Sonko said he had already recorded a statement with the directorate Of Criminal Investigations.

EACC said with regard to Chapter Six of the Constitution on integrity, they wanted the Senator disciplined by the Senate.

Sonko is also, among others, named in a corruption scandal at the Kenya Pipeline Company where they are accused of being involved in a raft of corruption deals.
