Gang poisons dogs before stealing property from a home in Muthaiga, Nairobi

NAIROBI: A gang poisoned two dogs at a private residence in Muthaiga area, Nairobi before stealing property and cash valued at more than Sh500,000.

The unknown number of thugs went to the home of Adna Devani on Sunday night, poisoned two dogs that were in the compound before they broke into her house and stole the valuables.

She told police she lost two television sets, two play stations, gold worth Sh120,000, an iPhone and about 800 Euros.

Starehe OCPD Bernard Nyakwaka said the woman was in her house at the time of the incident.

"They cut the door grill before they went into the house where they stole the property. Efforts to trace them are ongoing," he said.

Meanwhile, a man was Sunday night electrocuted in an incident in Kiambiu slums, Nairobi.

The man is said to have tried to connect wires in his house when he was electrocuted. His body was discovered in the area long after the incident. Police say they are investigating the incident and have blamed illegal connection on the same. The body was later moved to the mortuary.

And a suspected thug was Sunday night lynched by a mob in Mowlem area, Nairobi.

The man was in the company of three others and had been mugging residents when an alarm was raised.

A mob gathered and chased them before lynching one. The other accomplices managed to escape on foot. Residents say such mugging incidents have been rampant in the area and want police to enhance operations to tame them.
