Labour, transport Cabinet Secretaries face abuse of office charges

Suspended labour Cabinet Secretary Kazungu Kambi

NAIROBI, KENYA: Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission on Monday recommended abuse of office charges against two Cabinet Secretaries in President Uhuru Kenyatta’s government.

CS Transport Michael Kamau and his labour counterpart Kazungu Kambi were not lucky to be cleared by EACC from various graft allegations. The body however recommended files for CS Lands Charity Ngilu to be closed.

On Monday, Director of Public Prosecutor Keriako Tobiko said he has received files touching on four cabinet secretaries for his action and promised to review them independently and will make decision shortly.

Suspended CS Kazungu Kambi is facing allegations of irregular appointment of Mr. Andrew Gichamba Muigai and Ms Veska Jepkemboi Kangongo as members of NSSF Board. Engineer Kamau faces allegations of trashing aside a consultants design without following due procedures.

Suspended CS Agriculture Felix Koskei has been shortlisted as a witness into the alleged irregular leasing of Kenya Veterinary Vaccine Production Institute land at Tigoni, Kiambu. EACC has however asked DPP to charge the managing director of Kenya Veterinary Vaccine Production Institute and head of supply chain management.
