Neville: If Chelsea sign Bale – people will be in trouble for next few years

Gary Neville thinks the Premier League title is in danger of becoming a closed case - if Chelsea sign Gareth Bale.

The Welshman continues to draw criticism from the fans and media alike at Real Madrid, as is time at the Bernabeu appears to be coming to an end.

Both Manchester clubs are reportedly interested, with some suggesting Bale could be used as a makeweight for Los Blancos' move for United keeper David De Gea.

However, Chelsea are also in the hunt, and Neville feels it could spell the end for other clubs' hopes of winning the Premier League if he makes the switch to Stamford Bridge.

“There's one player touted about possibly coming available this summer, and that's Bale," Neville said.

“The talk is he's going to go to one of Manchester City, Manchester United or Chelsea.

"If he becomes available, if Chelsea win that battle, and say they lost Oscar or Willian and got him for a net cost of £25million, I think the other teams are in trouble for the next few years, I really do.”

Bale is set to make his return to the Real Madrid starting line-up this evening, when they take on Juventus in Turin in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final.

He came off the bench during Real's 3-2 victory at Sevilla on Saturday, setting up Cristiano Ronaldo for his decisive hat-trick goal.
