Manchester United target 'jets to England to discuss £25million move

Manchester United have attempted to steal a march on their rivals by flying Memphis Depay in for talks.

The 21-year-old is a top target for the Red Devils, who will have to cough up around £25million for the PSV Eindhoven striker.

United face competition from some of Europe's top clubs, with Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool also chasing his signature.

However, the Premier League big guns jetted Depay and his agent Kees Ploegsma in for talks over a £130,000-a-week deal, according reports.

And United are winning the race to sign the starlet - because of his relationship with Louis van Gaal.

Holland and Ajax legend Ronald De Boer believes Depay’s relationship with former Dutch coach Van Gaal will ultimately swing the deal in United’s favour.

“I don’t want to say which club is more suitable for him,” said De Boer.

“But if he goes to United he knows there’s a Dutch coach there in Van Gaal who knows him from the World Cup.

“That’s an advantage. He’s one of the biggest talents in Europe - he has everything."
