Kenyan boxers are optimistic their fate will change with the introduction of Africa title fights under the Commonwealth Boxing Council (CBC).

Kenya Professional Boxing Commission (KPBC) President Hillary Alila, said the new platform will propel the sport forward as it will bring more fights on card for the pugilists.

He added that CBC's move to appoint its former President Reuben Ndolo as its new ambassador for Africa is aimed at increasing the frequency of title fights in the continent.

"We are very happy about the new move to appoint Ndolo an ambassador of CBC for Africa. During his tenure, he proved that he had the boxers' interest at heart with the many bouts he organised."

"Now we have a say on how to manage the bouts and negotiate with TV stations on rights for broadcasting the bouts live across the continent. It is a new dawn for Kenyan and African boxers," said Alila.

Ndolo has a tough time to revive the sport and enable boxers get good pay packs for their fights.

"Our boxers will get more exposure locally and internationally," said Alila. "They will see their ratings go up and earn bigger fights with other boxers worldwide. It is a win for Africa and Kenya," he added.

Ndolo, who arrived from London on Monday, said: "We already have 12 vacant African title to be contested for by women across the continent. We have to start immediately and see that we get the best talent out to improve their skills and earn more points for their ratings."

"We will talk with SuperSport, Azam TV and other sports pay TV stations in Africa to market our brand. But we have to start somewhere and we have the capacity to do just that," said Ndolo.

The appointment of Ndolo as the Ambassador for CBC in Africa means that Nairobi will host more boxing bouts.
