Bomet, Kenya - Governor Isaac Ruto on Saturday clashed with some MPs and ward reps over alleged mismanagement of public funds.

The leaders accused Mr Ruto of failing to explain how his administration utilised public funds allocated to the county.

Singorwet Ward Rep Joyce Korir asked the Governor Ruto to step aside and allow investigations to be carried out into the corruption allegations.

She claimed proposals by the county assembly for resource distribution have been ignored and instead resources were being distributed along political alignments.

 LEGAL REDRESS

“Some areas are being treated as if their votes are special. We demand that County Integrated Development Plan be adhered to when setting up projects,” said Ms Korir.

Present were MPs Joyce Laboso (Sotik), Ronald Tonui (Bomet Central), Bernard Bett (Bomet East) and Paul Bii (Chepalungu).

Ruto dismissed calls by the leaders to step aside, saying there was no misuse of funds in Bomet County.

He warned leaders against maligning his name, saying he had marshalled a legal team and will soon sue anyone accusing him of corruption without proof.

“I am not going to yield to calls to resign since these allegations are based on fabrications and malice. I am waiting for the same people who named me in the corruption list to show me where the helicopter, petrol stations and house are," Ruto said.
