Another drug that has become increasingly popular with women is an over-the-counter pill called Misoprostol.
According to medical experts, Misoprostol induces what is comparable to spontaneous miscarriage. They warn that the use of the drug come with the risk heavy blood loss that might need the attention of a doctor.
Fred Kyalo of Family Care in Eldoret says greed drives the business of contraceptives.
People always want to make more, especially where unwanted pregnancies are involved.
"A drug such as Cytotec used to terminate pregnancy should retail for less than Sh500, but it goes for between Sh2,000 and Sh5,000 in the pharmacies," he says.
He warns that this drug should only be used under supervision as a prescription drug. Unfortunately, it is one of the most abused over-the-counter drugs.
