Kenya Commercial Bank are the official kings of rugby after they won the Enterprise Cup at the RFUEA grounds last evening.

The Bankers beat Homeboyz RFC 28-0 to win their third consecutive title of the season.

KCB have now won the national sevens circuit, the Kenya Cup and the Enterprise Cup, making them the overall champions of every coveted trophy in the country.

Speaking after the victory, KCB head coach Curtis Olago claimed their current position could only be attributed to hard work.

“This is the hard work of the whole team, there is Dennis Mwanja steering the boys from the technical bench, Mike Shamia always ensuring that they are fit and of course the boys themselves, who have been putting in some hard work,” he explained.

KCB are now the team in the spotlight after an eight-year wait. They last won the Enterprise and Kenya Cup back in 2007 and they have now ended that drought with the future in their gaze. According to captain Philip Wamae, it is a good feeling to follow up the Kenya Cup with the Enterprise Cup and this is an achievement that the whole team will cherish.

Speaking to the press after the game, Wamae claimed that the team had been looking forward to this moment all season and it was a great feeling for him and the players.

KCB has now won all the most-coveted trophies of the season, but this has just ignited their hunger, as they already consider what is to come in future. Coach Olago said it was a wonderful feeling to coach the champions and there are only better things to come.

“We have over 100 players in training and they are all hungry for victories and game time,” he said. “It actually is a headache during selection, but when we register such victories it makes it all worth it and we know we want to do it again,” he added.

Meanwhile, Kabras Sugar were crowned Mwamba Cup champions after beating KCB II in the the Mwamba Cup final after extra time in the earlier fixture of the day.
