Kiambu, Kenya: Three people died on Wednesday morning and 10 others are admitted to Thika Level 5 hospital after allegedly consuming illicit brew in Munyu village, Thika East.

The three succumbed after a drinking spree with friends in a club that the locals allege is owned by the area assistant chief.

According to Solomon Gatara, who escaped death by a whisker, they were having drinks when his colleagues started complaining of stomachache.

However, the assistant chief denied allegations that the club belonged to her.

County Commissioner Esther Maina confirmed she had received the complaint adding: "I have already given the chief an interdiction letter pending investigation."
