Stop dragging DP Ruto into your woes, Gichugu MP Njogu Barua tells governors

KIRINYAGA, KENYA: Gichugu MP Njogu Barua wants governors accused of corruption to stop dragging Deputy President William Ruto’s name into their problems.

Barua terms the scheme a clever way to escape from responsibility.

While urging the governors to carry their own burden, Barua said the case Ruto is facing at the International Criminal Court (ICC) had no link with corruption that the government was fighting.

"Let them (governors) carry their own crosses. The DP is a national leader who need to be respected not his name being dragged around," said the MP.

Speaking after officially opening a Sh51 million Kiandai Multipurpose Housing Saccco at Kianyaga market, Barua told the governors to respect the contents of the EACC dossier and step aside as directed by President Uhuru Kenyatta last Thursday.

'' We are surprised that some governors are already on the defensive even before they step aside to pave way for investigations over the alleged corruption deals. They should just step aside and stop his side shows meant to detract the fight against graft ,'' Barua said.

The MP predicted that Ruto would be vindicated at the ICC "since we know these were politically motivated cases."

On the same vein, Barua has told Meru Governor Peter Munya and his Bomet counterpart Isaac Ruto to remember that his office is a public one after he sought for votes in 2013.
