Isiolo,Kenya: Governor Godana Doyo (pictured) and his Marsabit counterpart Ukur Yattani have rejected claims of graft against them, saying they would not step aside.

Addressing a joint press conference in Isiolo at the weekend, the two turned the heat on Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) CEO Halakhe Waqo, accusing him of waging a personal vendetta against them.

"We know he has political interests in these two counties and wants to taint our good reputation in readiness for the 2017 General Election. Let him come out and face us openly in the political arena instead of hiding behind the war on corruption," they said.

However, speaking to The Standard, Mr Waqo said there was nothing personal.

"EACC is probing many counties. Let him (Doyo) wait until his administration is cleared," he said.
