Man found dead in cemetery

UK: A man was found dead in a cemetery after cracking his skull open tripping over a gravestone.

The unfortunate victim, aged in his 50s, was found lying on top of an already occupied grave in reading, Berkshire, when a passer-by stumbled across the corpse.

He raised the alarm and paramedics rushed to the cemetery, but the man was declared dead at the scene.

A forensics tent was erected over the body as police desperately searched for clues.

The bagged body was then wheeled out of the graveyard and into a private ambulance.

Today police revealed the probable cause of death was a fractured skull after falling over a headstone.

A Thames Valley Police spokesman said the man had not yet been identified but an initial investigation into the death established that it was unlikely to be suspicious.

"We do not yet have the results of the post mortem examination but officers now believe that the man may have tripped and fallen, hitting his head on the grave.

"He may have been drinking," the spokesman added.

He was believed to have been a local man from the Reading area.
