FA charge Evans and Cisse over their role in the spitting storm

The FA have charged Jonny Evans and Papiss Cisse over their role in the spitting storm on Wednesday night.

The pair clashing during the match between Manchester United and Newcastle at St James' Park, a game which was won by Ashley Young's late goal.

But the game was marred by the first-half incident where both appear to spit at each other, something United defender Evans denies.

The FA confirmed the charge on Thursday in an official statement - the duo have until Friday at 6pm to respond to the charge.

"Newcastle United’s Papiss Cisse and Manchester United’s Jonny Evans have both been charged by The FA following their game on Wednesday 4 March 2015," it read.
