ODM demands urgent probe into Form One selection

NAIROBI: The controversial selection of 2014 KCPE candidates to join Form One seems not to be over yet with the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) now demanding for an urgent, independent and transparent probe into what it terms as a flawed admission.

A statement from ODM’s Secretary General Ababu Nmwamba on Sunday also demanded that the Ministry of Education immediately publishes the names of all candidates who qualified for form one, their marks and the schools they have been admitted to.

“The Ministry must also publish the names of candidates who are yet to be admitted despite their marks, with an explanation on the way forward.” Namwamba said in the statement.

ODM claimed that if the current selection were left to stand, it could be carried forward into admission of KCSE candidates to public universities.

Despite complaints about how slots in National Schools were done, Education CS Jacob Kaimenyi insists that the exercise was free and fair.
