Fashion is shaped and influenced by the society and events that surround it. Here, we celebrate the straight cut dress both from the 1920s and the 1960’s.
It not only reflects society’s rapid movement and change, but also when the female silhouette was evolving. Dresses of the 1920s were shapeless affairs, they didn’t hug a woman’s curves, instead they hang loosely, and often even the sleeves were worn loose as well.
A shift dress is usually a short dress that lacks detailed shaping. Traditionally, shift dresses tend to skim the curves rather than clinging to them. These types of dresses were famous in the late 1950s and early 1960s with fashion icons Audrey Hepburn and Jacqueline Kennedy.
Here are a few contemporary straight cut looks that would make for quite a fabulous look.
