NAIROBI, Kenya: Rwandan talisman Meddie Kagere is in town and currently holding talks with the hopes of sealing a deal to play for Kenya Premier League champions Gor Mahia. The Rwandan striker arrived in the country mid this week and was holed in deep consultations with his representatives and those of the club for the better part of Wednesday and Thursday.

According to club Assistant Secretary General Ronald Ngala, there are high hopes Kagere may sign for the 14 time champions.

“We can confirm the talks are near eighty percent done.” Intimated Ngala.

“There was just a bit of a misunderstanding between us and his representatives but we have given them some time off to rethink our deal. Friday afternoon we should have a deal with them.”

It is not the first time the club has been close to signing Kagere. In 2012 K’Ogalo approached his former club Rayon Sport of Rwanda but the asking price tag of Ksh.7 million may have scared Gor Mahia away. Kagere then chose to see out his contract with the Rwandan side before moving to Albanian side FK Tirana.

If Meddie Kagere signs with K’Ogalo, he’ll be seen as a perfect, if not better, replacement to Dan Sserenkuma who left for Tanzanian football giants Simba FC.
