Kenya Revenue Authority seeks more tax agents to enhance service delivery

Kenya: The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) plans to register more tax agents to enhance revenue compliance. The taxman says the move is expected to enhance quality services for taxpayers to enable them comply with tax laws.

“By registering the tax agents, the taxman will strive to ensure it regulates the conduct of the tax agents with respect to quality service to taxpayers,” Chief Manager, Marketing and Communications, Maureen Njongo said.

She said by June 2014, KRA had 366 tax agents and aims at registering at least 500 tax agents by June 2015. The law requires that those wishing to operate as tax agents be qualified accountants or advocates of the High Court.

Services offered by tax agents include representing their clients in filing tax returns, tax audit exercises and dispute resolution process.
