Smartphone case doubles as a printer, produces physical photos in just 30 seconds

Prynt works like a Polaroid camera

This retro smartphone case creates physical keepsakes for the selfie generation

Prynt is a smartphone case that lets you instantly print out the photos you take in the same way that a Polaroid camera works.

Users just clip their smarphone into the case, take a picture and press print. A photo will be produced on paper within 30 seconds.

In an age of limitless digital storage and the snap-happy selfie generation, it's a retro way to create a physical keepsake.

CEO Clément Perrot says that there's too much focus on quantity rather than quality of images.

Photos, he says, have "lost the deeper meaning" they had in past generations when they were precious, physical items used to share memories.

"Prynt hopes to bridge this gap by printing memories off from your phone, and bringing back the joy of holding an actual photograph in your hand."

As an extra bonus, the printed out shots also act as an augmented reality marker. Viewing the printed pictures through your smartphone camera brings them to life as a short video.

How does this work? When you are posing for a picture, the app actually captures a short video. Then when you go back to scan the photo using your camera, the app recognises it and will show a movie on screen using a digital overlay.

The case works for both iPhones and Android phones. You can preorder it through Kickstarter here.
