The AFC Leopards management yesterday assured their fans that the team is stable and will be a force to reckon with this season.

Club chairman Allan Kasavuli said they are making arrangements to clear players’ pending salary arrears.

“We have already paid one month salary arrears and we thank our sponsors Mumias Sugar for coming out to help us do this. We are working hard to clear the rest before long,” he said.

He further announced that the team will unveil their newly signed players tomorrow.

“We have already made our signings but since a good number of them are foreigners, it has taken long to have them come here but by Wednesday, it will be a full house and we intend to tell our fans who they are,” he said.

He added: “I want to assure our fans that the players we have brought on board are up to the task and should help us achieve our dream of doing well this season.”

Leopards finished without a trophy last season, something which led to the sacking of Dutchman Pitier De Jongh as head coach.

Kasavuli, at the same time, said they are interviewing seven coaches to replace De Jongh.

“We have narrowed down on a number of coaches but in the meantime, assistant coach Yusuf Chipo is in charge,” he revealed.

Kasavuli  also revealed that the club has suspended four of its members for allegedly holding an illegal Special General Meeting (SGM).

After the illegal meeting held at Railway Club, the four Mathews Opwora, Noah Wafula, Isokha Chevai and Lawrence Weche claimed to have taken over the club.

However, club chairman Kasavuli came out strongly to denounce the four, accusing them of bringing instability to the team.

“We are concerned about their (suspended officials) subversive activities with the intention to destabilise the operations of the club. We strongly condemn that act which is a gross violation of the club’s constitution.
Consequently, the said members are suspended from the club with immediate effect. They are free to defend or appeal against the suspension in the next AGM or SGM whichever comes first,” he said.

Elsewhere, Tusker have confirmed they have opened negotiations with AFC Leopards midfielder Humphrey Mieno.

Tusker Director Charles Obiny said they hope to have concluded talks by Wednesday.

“We are talking to him and if everything goes well, we hope to open talks with AFC Leopards,” he said.
