Form 3 girl in Homa Bay lynched over attacks

A Form Three girl accused of luring five boda boda operators to their death in Homa Bay has been killed by her outraged neighbours.

Ten houses belonging to some accomplices named by the girl were also reduced to ashes.

The girl was killed at Otweya village in Rangwe constituency for colluding with thugs to rob and kill boda boda operators in the area.

The girl identified as Asha Ojeya is said to have sought the services of a boda boda rider at Kameji on Sunday to take her to Sinema trading centre in the neighbouring Homa Bay County.

However, after travelling for about two kilometres, she told the rider to stop. A group of armed men attacked the rider, cut him with a panga and robbed him of his motorbike.

Residents responded to the commotion, but the thugs disappeared into a sugarcane plantation. The girl was found hiding in a hole the following day.

The residents demonstrated along the Rangwe-Nyamira road to demand the transfer of top police officers in Rangwe division.

The body was taken to Homa Bay County Hospital mortuary.
